The Piedmont Community Charter School will provide an academically challenging curriculum. We will provide an environment enabling student development of character, morals, and responsibility. The school will foster a constant and continuous relationship between families, teachers, and the community. We believe in nurturing an educational atmosphere which leaves all participants with a life long love for learning that enables them to become positive contributors in their community.

A Charter School in North Carolina is a public school funded from public school funds that is operated by a private organization that has applied for and been granted a charter by the state of North Carolina.
"Charter schools are public schools in every sense of the word. They cannot charge tuition, must be nonsectarian, and cannot be exclusive in their admission practices. However, charter schools are really the only accountable public schools. Other public schools have performance goals. If those goals are not met, the school personnel ask for more money and say they will do better next time. If charter schools do not meet their performance requirements according to their charter, they lose their charter and are closed by the government."
