Zampogna, Heather| Elementary School Counselor McKinney-Vento Liaison

Welcome

Welcome to PCCS Counselor’s Corner.  My name is Heather Zampogna and I am a School Counselor here at Piedmont Community Charter.  As a parent myself it is sometimes difficult to discuss heavy topics with our own children. If you are a parent or guardian of a young child and are having a difficult time discussing what is going on please check in the classroom resource section for help from Sesame Street with suggestions for talking to your little ones about COVID-19.

I will posting Resources as they become available in my Announcements section AND in the Classroom Resources section for parents and students during this school closure so please continue to check back for updates.

Please let me know privately how I can be of assistance to you more specifically: heather.zampogna@pccharter.org.  (This link may not work with your browser.  For best results please copy and paste it directly into your email.)

For information about McKinney-Vento Services please look in the classroom resources section.

If you or a loved one are experiencing increased feelings of self-harm please click on the link available in the classroom resources section for 24 hour assistance or call the Suicide Hotline at:      1-800-273-TALK (8255)

If you need assistance from Department of Social Services to report suspected neglect or abuse please call the child abuse hotline at:  704-862-7555

If you are concerned about the safety or well being of a student or their family please call the Gaston County Police non-emergency number and ask them to do a wellness check at: 704-866-3300

During this time of isolation it is important to reach out for help for yourself, your neighbors, and your loved ones.  If you or someone you know needs help concerning domestic violence or sexual assault/abuse please call the Safe Alliance Hotline at: 980-771-HOPE

Let’s use this time as a reminder to ourselves about what is important in this life:

“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was,

the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove…

but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”

Heather Zampogna

Hello.  My name is Heather Zampogna and I’m the School Counselor at the elementary campus for Piedmont Community Charter School.  I have over 20 years of experience with children and families having worked previously for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Gaston County Schools, Pressley Ridge Schools in Pittsburgh, PA as a behavioral therapist for children on the Autism Spectrum, and as a case worker at The Guidance Center; a mental health agency located in Bradford, PA.  Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family hiking, traveling, participating in church events, cooking, and any outdoor adventure.  I feel privileged to have joined the team here at Piedmont and look forward to all the wonderful things to come for our students, their families, and the staff.
