Laura Baird’s Biography

It has been a privilege to teach fifth grade for four years at Piedmont Charter Elementary. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. I have 40+ years of teaching experience: several years in the states of Tennessee, Missouri, and California, and 30 years at WA Bess Elementary in Gaston County. After retiring from Gaston County Schools in the spring of 2015, I was attracted to this teaching position by the opportunity to teach math and science in fifth grade.  I love to teach math and science, and I love to teach fifth graders.

My primary LOVES are my 3 grown-up children and my seven grandchildren.  My favorite hobbies are hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family.

I am looking forward to teaching another year at Piedmont Charter Elementary with the fabulous fifth-grade team including Mrs. Rhonda Carr, Mrs. Claudia Stroup, Ms. Samantha Blevins, and Ms. Bobbie Mathieu.
